A Poem

I was bored yesterday so I decided to write a poem:
                                              A Day at the Farm
The rooster is crowin’
The farmer awakes
He starts the mowin’
His wife starts to bake
The cow needs milkin’
The dog needs fed
The field needs tillin’
The owl goes to bed
The horses need ridden
The baby starts to cry
Off to bed he is bidden
Mom will sing him a lullaby
The day goes fast
The sun’s going down
Now the day is past
The farmer frowns
Tomorrow though, more work will be done
Now off to bed before up comes the sun

SAT(Student Achievement Testing)

Hey! I just got back from my test! Heh heh. This is probably the worst it's gone out of all of them. But, I don't think I'll get below 70 % right. The hot weather is amazing! I mean it's still a March in Michigan! Dad thinks it's still going to snow, which it probably is. Sigh... The Father Daughter banquet went really well. The guest singer was Chris August. He is really good. Well, I don't really know what else to say so I guess that means it's time to get off.

Ella's Blog

Hey! This is Ella. I've officially taken over the Sarver Blog. I hope to be posting on it regularly. Things have been going great in the Sarver household. It is SO warm outside! (and beautiful) Isaac is hoping to start his garden soon. (I help w/it) Having the Glidewells staying here has been a real pleasure. I like playing with their three older girls. They're around my age. I can't wait till we can take our canoe out on our lake. Just recently we got a new dog his name is Taron and he is 1 and a half years old. Well, that's all I have to say right now, so see ya!

Lazarus

This blog has been officially resurrected. Our family did not all get eaten by rabid jellyfish or kidnapped by Antarcticans. We just kind of forgot about the whole blogging thing.
We just finished our first year of Classical Conversations and loved it! I was in Challenge B, Ella was in Masters, Reuben was in Apprentices, and Sam was in Abecedarians. (yes, that is a real word) Classical Conversations is a curriculum that I will leave to my Mom to explain. I studied Latin, Logic, Debate, Chemistry, Mock Trial, Literature, Short story writings, and History of science. I did a science fair project, wrote my own short story (which you can read upon request), committed to memory all the latin  noun declensions, a portion of latin conjugations, and the personal pronoun declensions. We did a whole lot of other stuff too. I had an awesome teacher and an awesome classroom along with awesome classmates. We had so much fun. I can't wait till next year... but then again, this is all about me. If you want to read more about me, go to my blog, but wait till you're done reading this! I know it is awesome, I can't help it really, but read about everybody else first.
Ella has discovered her interest in violin and continues to excel rapidly in her musical skills. She just received a new violin on Thursday that is beautiful. I think I'm starting to annoy her because I ask her to play it so much. The make of the violin she has is an Amati milano. She is also working on writing a book. She hasn't really told me much about it, but she works on it a lot. I'm sure it will be good.
Hopefully Mom will get back into the habit of updating more frequently. Bye!

Ella's Birthday

Hi, this is Isaac writing. Ella's birthday as well as her part were a success. We enjoyed Pedro's Special for her birthday dinner. Our whole family cleared out a 9x13 pan, which is unusual. We had a great time celebrating a decade with Ella!

We also enjoyed Ella's birthday party, which we had at Townsend park, were we enjoyed a great birthday meal of hot dogs, doritos, greek salad, and of course, cake and we couldn't find a way to keep ice cream cold, so we had cookies! Lime and sky blue streamers added the finishing touch.

My party's Saturday, so I hope to post on that too! Bye!

Museums, Birthdays, Lakes and Snakes

Our summer has been full of fun...

The Creation Museum was quite a treat...very awe inspiring! It was a good reminder that we are so small and fragile and our Creator is beyond description.

We also enjoyed a day at Lake Michigan.

Sam had quite an unusual 4th birthday. Around 3:00pm he stepped on a long, rusty nail and spent the next three hours in the ER...poor guy! He quite enjoyed having Mom and Dad all to himself! They did an Xray, gave him a shot and put him on an antibiotic which ended up making him sick after his birthday dinner. Nevertheless, it was a good day with fun memories. He enjoyed all of his presents and the day ended with a very cool cake (made by our dear friend Sarah)! He asked for a boat and a deep sea diver and that's exactly what he got. You'll have to see our picture collection to see the other side of the cake.

We took a trip to the nature center to observe, listen to and learn about birds. However the instructor brought three rat snakes along that stole the show! The picture doesn't do justice for how much Isaac is enjoying this moment! All four of our children held the snake, but the battery ran out before I could get a picture of Reuben.

Please enjoy many more new pictures on our family site!

Sam is so "t'yute"!

I often tell Sam how cute he is. Despite his ability to be so ornery, he is also just so cute! Recently, after a full day of pure orneryness and disobedience, I was very frustrated with Sam. I told him, "Sam, you are being so..." I paused trying to decide whether or not to finish my sentence. So he finished it for me, "T'yute?" And he walked out of the room with his thumb in his mouth and his blankie over his shoulder. I didn't finish my sentence.
