Christmas is over

Christmas is over! This is Isaac. We had an awesome Christmas. Everybody was content with what they got, which is the way it's supposed to be. We got an Air Hockey table for Christmas, and I LOVE it! I've been practicing, so I can beat everybody at our New Year's Eve party. I can't wait for that. We got so much food, it seems like we're going to feed an army. Our beautiful 20 degree weather and 2 feet of snow melted in one day, and there were flood warnings everywhere. Now it's back under freezing, and it's supposed to snow again. I had to miss playing my bass at the Christmas Eve service because of icy roads. I hope everyone who read this had a great Christmas as well. I hope everybody is still drinking egg nog!

Christmas Dog

Hi everybody! This is Isaac writing. I thought I'd share some pictures with you. This one shows you the first "Christmas present" that put itself under our tree. Our dog, Bailey, will lie down on anything she can that is soft or warm. We couldn't help laughing when she walked in the room, looked around, and walked straight over to the Christmas tree to plop herself down on the tree skirt.

It's been really cool (no pun intended) to have all this snow and cold weather to play in. We never drive anywhere anymore, we sled there. I walk my dog every morning before I do anything else, and it's usually below ten degrees. That's what Michigan's like. Our new house is done with drywalling and mudding, and it is usually 75 degrees inside. Soon, they're going to hook up the lights so we can use those.

Christmas Time!

We had such fun today! We actually pulled out the Christmas decorations and dove in! I could tell what Sam was planning when he looked at the box of ornaments and asked, "Can we get the toys out now?"
Then, Ella and I had a wonderful experience of dressing up in 1800s clothing and attending a Christmas tea! Ella made her own skirt and it was with some of Grandma Judy's fabric! She also had the opportunity of joining a group of carolers. It was so lovely. Enjoy the pictures!

Field Trip

Isaac again! Hi! We went on a field trip today, and it was really cool! Our home school group went to a place that made, sold, and fixed string basses and cellos. The guy who ran the place started learning bass the same age I did. I got to see the process of one, different kinds, and compare a poorly made one to a nice one. They also made bows that sold for 900 dollars! I thought that was crazy until I saw the amount of work that was put into it.

Mom and Dad went to pick out granite countertops for our house. I love their choices! They also went to pick out tile the other day, and it was love at first sight.

Tonight we're going to Bible Study. The Cooks are hosting and I'm glad because Mrs. Cook is a really good cook! We are studying James 3 tonight. I'm supposed to memorize a verse from the chapter, so I better stop to make sure I got it all down!

Winter Wonders

Hi everybody! Isaac here! The blog is finally going now! If you don't live up North, you'd be driven crazy by all this snow. We've got loads and loads of it. We've started renting it out to people in Florida (just kidding.) We've built forts and ramps and have gone sledding for hours.
I've been having a lot of fun learning the string bass and piano. I practice string bass with two other people I know, Rebecca and Christina, (If you've read the Birmingham Buzz, you'll know what I'm talking about). I've taken piano lessons for 41/2 years.
We are going through the long and hard journey of building a house in the woods. It's still really fun, though. So despite the blog title, we don't live in the woods yet. We live in a sub-division.
We have a Wednesday Bible Study with six other families. It's a blast! We learn so much. We usually read a chapter of the Bible, then talk about it. Right now we are studying James. The hosts always serve the best food.
We have a dog Bailey, who I think is losing her mind. We put her in the basement while we we were gone, and she peed on the floor, so we put her in the garage. Then, she ripped up the garage door. We got a cage for her, and she ripped the bars off, leaving sharp points, and she tried to put her head through the hole she made, got it stuck, and injured her face and leg. I had to clean Bailey up with a wet rag. I feel kind of bad for her.
Christmas is coming up and I love it! The best part is, I can wait, because we have egg nog. I'm addicted (not really), but I still love it. I love christmas shopping too. I love wrapping presents. I love the Christmas Eve service (speaking of that, I might be playing my string bass in the service this year). I love decorating ( okay, I'm a boy. but does that really matter? who cares.) Everybody needs to remember what Christmas is really about, Jesus Christ, who is the reason we can have the hope of eternal life. If you haven't already, try memorizing Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I hope everybody goes out and buys egg nog after reading this. I meet so many people who don't like it, and when I hear that I almost cry, for their sake. I guess I'll wrap up now. Thanks for reading, and don't forget to check in again!
